Rev. Jose Oliveira

Biographical Note

Rev. Jose Oliveira is the founder of the Illinois Theological Seminary. He is an ordained Presbyterian minister, holding a M.Div. from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (Lombard, IL). Born in Brazil and living in U.S. for 10 years, Rev. Oliveira has taught Theology at Simonton Institute of Education (Brazil) and has been pastor in several churches both in Brazil and U.S.

Besides Portuguese, his native language, he speaks English and Spanish. He is recipient of the 1997 Mariottini Award for Outstanding Research Paper in Old Testament. Currently he is enrolled in the Northwestern Theological Seminary pursuing a Ph.D. degree.

Rev Jose Oliveira is 49 years old, divorced and father to four children. He is a new born in Christ since 1974, and has been in the Ministry since 1981, when was licensed to preach the Gospel by his denomination in Brazil. He has authored a book, "The Epistle of Jude: introduction and exposition" as well as co-authored two others, published in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

In 2003 he created the Illinois Theological Seminary Online, a free of charge school, with numerous programs in the fields of Theology, Philosophy and Social Sciences, offering to qualified students serious online education in three levels of degrees: Associates, Bachelors and Masters.
